The Dutch conductor and  composer Tjalling Wijnstra started
his musical career as an accordionist. He started his studies
at the Academy of Music In Groningen with the renowned 
Egbert Spelde and after having graduated he continued his
studies at the Royal Coservatoire of Kopenhagen with the
Danish accordeon player Mogens Ellegaard. Wijnstra then
started studying the profession of orchestral conducting with
the teachers Lucas Vis and Joop van Zon and finished his
studies at the Sweelinck Conservatoire in Amsterdam under
Roland Kieft.Starting in 2005 up untill 2011 Wijnstra was
choirleader and….  at Opera Zuid in Maastricht. During that
time he assisted in all of the opera prouctions of Opera Zuid
joined with the Brabants Orchestre and the Limburg Symphony
Orchestre.  Wijnstra conducted several performances of
Don Giovanni by Mozart, De Parelvissers and Carmen by Bizet,
Die Lustige Witwe by Lehar, Il Barbiere di Siviglia by Rossini,
Mavra by Strawinsky and Der Rosenkavalier by Richard Strauss.

Wijnstra is Artistic leader  of the  Opera Company North which
has been established by himself. In comming seasons Opera
Company North will be performing in the northern part of the

As a composer Wijnstra is involved in several
projects: in november 2012 one of his works for Symphony
orchestre  will see its premiere. This work has been written for
the Frisian Chamber Orchestre. He has also started writing
Music for a serious game in assignment  for Grendel
Productions in Leeuwarden.
